The Last Book in the Universe by Rodman Philbrick

How is everyone doing with the vocabulary for this book?

I thought at first that the vocab was sort of tricky.  I had to visualize a picture in my head to figure out what they were talking about.  For instance, when they say "spill the red"  I had to think about the scene being described, then I realized that they were talking about blood and bleeding all over the place.  

Is anyone else reminded of other books or stories as they read this?  I am reminded of stuff I have read before, but I can't quite put my finger on which book.   

Yeah, the vocab is really wierd. Some of the words, like gummy for old people, I don't know how they came up with them. -Maggie
